Terms of Service

Nuggget helps parents coordinate childcare tasks with trusted helpers. These terms explain what the service does, what it doesn't do, and what you're agreeing to when you use it. Please read the GPS and safety sections — they matter.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Nuggget, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

These terms apply to all users: parents, co-parents, and helpers.

2. What Nuggget Is

Nuggget is a coordination tool. It helps parents assign childcare tasks to helpers, send reminders, and receive confirmation when a helper arrives at an activity location. It is a communication and logistics tool only.

Nuggget is not a childcare service. We do not employ helpers, vet helpers, guarantee task completion, or assume any responsibility for the physical safety of children. Parents are solely responsible for selecting helpers they trust and for maintaining appropriate oversight of their children's care.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create a Nuggget account. By registering, you confirm that you are 18 or older, that the email address you provide is yours, and that you have the legal authority to add children to your family account.

Helpers who receive SMS notifications do not need to create an account, but by responding to a task request they confirm they are 18 or older and are accepting responsibility for the specific task described.

4. Your Account

You are responsible for keeping your phone number and account access secure. Because Nuggget uses phone-based authentication, access to your phone number is access to your account. Contact us immediately at hi@nuggget.app if you believe your account has been compromised.

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, including tasks assigned through your account.

5. GPS and Location Confirmation

GPS confirmation is not a safety guarantee. The Nuggget GPS handoff feature confirms that a device associated with a helper has entered the vicinity of an activity location. It does not confirm:

That the helper physically completed the handoff
That the child is in the helper's care
That the correct adult is present
That the child is safe

GPS accuracy varies by device, carrier, and environment. Geofences may trigger incorrectly. Always maintain a direct means of contact with your helpers and do not rely solely on app notifications to confirm your child's safety.

GPS location data is used only during the active handoff window for a confirmed task. Precise coordinates are automatically deleted within 24 hours. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

6. SMS Notifications

Nuggget sends SMS messages to helpers on behalf of parents. The first message sent to any helper identifies Nuggget by name, describes the task, and includes opt-out instructions (Reply STOP).

By adding a helper to your circle, you confirm that you have a pre-existing personal relationship with them. Do not add phone numbers belonging to strangers. Misuse of the SMS feature is a violation of these terms and may result in account suspension.

Helpers can opt out at any time by replying STOP. Standard carrier rates may apply.

7. Helper Responsibilities

By accepting a task request through Nuggget, a helper agrees to:

Complete the specific task described as confirmed
Contact the assigning parent immediately if they are unable to complete the task
Use the "Need help" function if they encounter a problem

Helpers are independent individuals, not employees or contractors of Nuggget. Nuggget has no liability for the actions or omissions of helpers.

8. Parent Responsibilities

Parents using Nuggget agree to:

Only add helpers they personally know and trust
Provide accurate task information including times, locations, and relevant instructions
Maintain a direct means of contact with active helpers outside of the app
Not rely solely on GPS confirmation as proof of a child's safety
Respond promptly to alerts and SOS notifications

9. Prohibited Uses

You may not use Nuggget to:

Add helpers without their knowledge or consent
Coordinate care for children you are not legally responsible for without appropriate authorization
Harass, stalk, or monitor individuals through the GPS or notification features
Attempt to access other families' data
Use the service in any way that violates applicable laws

10. Delivery and Technical Limitations

Nuggget depends on third-party services including SMS carriers, GPS hardware, and cloud infrastructure. We do not guarantee that SMS messages will be delivered on time, that GPS geofences will trigger accurately, or that the service will be uninterrupted.

For safety-critical situations, always have a direct backup communication plan with your helpers that does not depend on the app.

11. Subscription and Billing

Nuggget is free during its open beta period. After the beta, continued access to core features may require a paid subscription. Pricing and cancellation policies will be disclosed in the app before any charge.

Helpers are always free. Subscriptions apply only to parent accounts.

12. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from app settings. All family data is permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or harm other users or the service.

13. Disclaimer of Warranties

Nuggget is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that GPS and notification features will function accurately in all circumstances.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Nuggget and its founders shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service, including missed pickups, delayed notifications, GPS inaccuracies, or any harm arising from a helper's actions or omissions.

Our total liability for any claim related to the service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms as the product evolves. We will notify users of material changes via the app or SMS with reasonable notice. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
